Crusty White Bread

Ingredients

For 2 loaves

​750g white bread flour

300ml warm water

150ml milk

7g / 2 tsp dried yeast

2-3 tsp salt

Method

First, mix the flour, salt, and yeast together (either by hand or with an electric whisk). Then add the warm water and milk to the mix.

Once the dough is the right consistency to handle, knead for 7-8 mins and then prove in a warm place for approximately 90 minutes or until the dough has doubled in size.

Now knead the dough for another minute or so. Then split the dough into two and shape (you can be creative when shaping the loaves!). Prove for approximately 30-45 mins.

Heat oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7 and place a tray of water in the bottom of the oven (this is to steam the bread as it cooks). Place the bread on an oven tray and bake for 30-35 mins until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped underneath. Cool on a wire rack.
